Males are bright blue with yellow/Orange along the lower body. The tail is blue with yellow/Orange lines mixed with it. Some males start out mostly darker blue, then show yellow on the tail and body. A few changes to orange on the tail and body. Others retain the yellow rather than the orange color. Females are cream with brown stripes. A few females have black stripes rather than brown ones. Males are slow to color and dominant males will not let sub-dominate males color. This peacock can be a little slow to show color but is well worth the wait. An exceptional male may develop orange/Red color on part of the body and tail.

Peaceful to mildly aggressive Peacock that mixes well with other Peacocks. other than Jacobfreibergi types of a similar color. They also mix well with Haplochromis, milder Mbuna, and milder Lake Victorians in single male tanks. Do not mix different Aulonocara females in the same tank. (See Compatibility Chart)
Please note: No sex is guaranteed on sex uncertain fish. Watch for groups with guaranteed males and females for certain sexed fish in a group. Broods are about 50/50.
