Males have a blue body with a grey blaze on the head. Their fins have a purple hue. Their lower face is turquoise. Some may show a darker blue shoulder. A very stunning cichlid indeed. The rarest form of Phenochilus and the calmest variety of Phenochilus in the hobby.

3" and large males come from the wholesaler occasionally. This fish may not be available year-round. Price is likely to rise.

These fish work best in all-male tanks with peacocks and milder haplochromines. It is hard to beat the color of an all-male African Cichlid Tank. 90 gallons or larger tank recommended. 

The best group to breed this fish is one male with five females. 75 gallons or larger tanks recommended. 40 Gallon Breeder will work as well.
