Males are yellow with blue on the lower face. Some males show less blue than others. Orange may appear on their tail and upper rear dorsal fin. Similar to Benga with little to no blue on the face in color. They tend to hold color better than Benga in mixed male tanks. This fish is also sold in the hobby as Maleri all Yellow despite the blue on the lower face.
This is a rare peacock from Germany. The original colony of these fish is located in a national park and is no longer available for import. The original colony had more blue on the face and was nearly identical to Benga. Recently an additional colony of these fish with less blue on the face was located in the Chidunga Rocks area outside of the National park which is allowing them to return to the Hobby.
These fish are being grown out from smaller sizes obtained through my wholesaler.
They are best kept in single male tanks with other peacocks and milder haplochromines. It is hard to beat the color of an all-male African Cichlid Tank.
The best group for breeding is one male with five or six females.
Base Price is for a 2.5" male.
