These fish have a blue face and body with orange mixed into portions of their bodies. Lower fins are orange and the tail may have orange on it as well. They turn more reddish after they reach about 5 inches. They are a cross between Jacobfreibergi Otter Point and Jacobfreibergi Swallow Tail. This makes them more mildly aggressive, less aggressive than Otter Point, and more aggressive than Swallowtail. Most turn more reddish-orange over time like the second photo. Under 4.5" they tend to be more orangish (see the first photo). The second photo is my wholesaler breeder male.
Do not mix with other peacock males similar in color. Mixes well with Lake Malawi Haplochromis (See Compatibility Chart) 90-Gallon or larger tank recommended.
They may become a problem with German Red, Ruby Red, or Maleri Orange in tanks under 120 gallons or four foot wide.
The best group for breeding is one male with six females. 75-gallon or larger tank recommended.
These fish are occasionally available through my special order (pre-order from my wholesaler) program.
The best way to keep these fish as a single male in an all-male tank. It is hard to beat the color of an all-male African Cichlid Tank.
