Chrysogaster is a calm haplochromines that are best kept in species only tanks.
They may mix with milder peacock cichlids and a few milder haplochromines in single male tanks. (See Compatibility Chart)
Four foot wide 120 gallon or larger tank is best for this fish, but it may work in a 75 or 90 gallon as well.
Do not put this fish with females other than of its own type. In the wild, they knock eggs from female's months and eat them. In the aquarium, they will eat most any flake or pellet food.
