Males are yellow with blue on the lower face. Some males show less blue than others. Orange may appear on their tail and upper rear dorsal fin. Similar to Benga with less blue on the face in color. They tend to hold color better than Benga in mixed male tanks. This fish is also sold in the hobby as Maleri all Yellow despite the blue on the lower face.
This is a rare peacock from Germany. The original colony of these fish are located in a national park and are no longer available for import. Recently an additional colony of these fish was located in the Chidunga Rocks area outside of the National park which is allowing them to return to the Hobby.
These fish are being grown out from smaller sizes obtained through my wholesaler.
They are best kept in single male tanks with other peacocks and milder haplochromines. It is hard to beat the color of an all-male African Cichlid Tank.
Best group for breeding is one male with five or six females.
Base Price is for a 1.5" Sex Uncertain
