• Artistochromis Christyi (Malawi Hawk)

This fish is normally only available through my special order list when I am ordering from my wholesaler. These fish are slow to color and may not show color until 5" or larger. Photo from Brinton Schlegel one of my customers. These males are hard to sex. Part color males on special order list are the best guess by the wholesaler.

Single males work best in a larger tank of 120 gallons or larger, but can sometimes be kept in a 90-gallon tank with other larger haps and peacocks. They may become aggressive toward smaller milder fish when they reach larger adult sizes.

Best kept in single males in all-male tanks.  It is hard to beat the color of an all-male African Cichlid Tank.

The best mix of sex for breeding is one male with five or six females in a larger tank (120 Gallon or larger).
