Males are very colorful. They have a mostly blue/green body with red on the shoulder, and on the anal fin. The anal fin also contains multiple white egg spots. Their dorsal fin is blue and red with a light blue upper edge. See http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=2312
The Base price is 2.5" 3/4 color Male. These fish are grown out from in-stock breeders.
Sometimes a single male, especially a smaller one can be intimidated by larger tank mates and hide color at first.
Have you tried Smart Start Complete yet? It helps to keep your aquarium water cycle system working and keep fish healthy. CAS uses it in our tanks. Our 12 oz. bottles take up the same space as one 3.5" or smaller fish in our 12 x 12 x 10 and larger boxes. This means you can ship a bottle with your fish order with no extra shipping charge in most cases. see https://www.cichlidsarespecial.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=343 for more information.
2" and smaller sizes of this fish do better when kept with one teaspoon per gallon of plain table salt in their water.
Lethrinops work best with milder peacocks and milder haps in single all-male tanks. See the compatibility chart. 75 gallons or larger tanks recommended. It is hard to beat the color of an all-male African Cichlid Tank.
The best group for breeding this fish is one male with five or more females.
These fish are being grown out from smaller sizes obtained from my wholesaler. Sometimes I am able to get some 3" or larger males from the wholesaler as well.
